Rajasthan HC to hear PIL on oxygen shortage in hospitals of the region

The Rajasthan High Court will hear a PIL on the shortage of oxygen faced by various hospitals in the state.

Yesterday, the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association had written to Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty, who accepted the request of the Bar Association to treat its letter concerning the severe situation caused by shortage of oxygen in Covid-19 hospitals of the region into a PIL matter.

In the letter, Rajasthan HC Bar Association’s President Bhuvnesh Sharma submitted that in these crucial circumstances, corona patients in the hospital in all districts of Rajasthan are facing shortage of oxygen during the last two days. As shown in TV channels and newspapers, Covid hospitals in Rajasthan do not have sufficient oxygen and it needs to be supplemented when demand for oxygen is increasing rapidly day by day.

The Bar Association also said the State Government and Central Government are avoiding their responsibility by blaming each other for the situation caused in the pandemic. The Bar Association while accusing both Governments states people of the state are facing major issues due to shortage of oxygen in this phase due to lack of mutual coordination between political parties.

Therefore, it has become necessary that the judiciary intervenes and directs the state and central government to issue  appropriate orders to secure the supply of oxygen to the  suffering public in all hospitals of the state.
