A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on the issue of shifting of vegetable market in the city of Gwalior.
The PIL has been filed by Navneet Pathak through Advocate R.K. Joshi in which the petitioner alleged that business has been affected by the new market shifting.
In the petition it was stated that because of new market shifts vegetables are not being sold as a result price of the vegetables are increasing rapidly and vegetables are getting spoiled in the field.
It was stated by the petitioner that the number of traders who trade in the old vegetable market is 750 and only 200 blocks have been built in New Mandi, therefore every merchant will not get a shop in the Market and there business will suffer.
Moreover, due to the construction of only two hundred blocks in the new vegetable market, there is a possibility of disorder as there are 400 retail traders because of which more space is required to to maintain a safe physical distance in the Covid-19 Epidemic. Therefore, Both the mandis should be kept operational, claimed the PIL.
The petitioner also pointed out that in the year 1990, thirty one traders get leased for 30 years in the old Market. Furthermore, in the year 2009, thirty nine shops were built and leased for thirty years.
