Action has been taken under Section 69A of the IT Act for engaging in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and security of India
New Delhi (ILNS): The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology today issued a press release which states that the Ministry under section 69A of the Information Technology Act has blocked access to 43 mobile Apps.
It has been stated that the action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.
Further, the order has been issued based on the comprehensive reports received from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Earlier on June 29, 2020, the Central Government had blocked access to 59 mobile apps and on September 2, 2020, 118 more apps were banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
The order has been passed to protect the interests of citizens and sovereignty and integrity of India on all fronts.
