The Karkardooma Court has directed the Mandoli Jail Superintendent to look after the security of Former Congress councillor Ishrat Jahan who has alleged that she was beaten up by inmates earlier and has sought protection for the same.
Additional Session Judge- 03 Amitabh Rawat while hearing the plea through video conferencing noted, “It needs no reiteration that the Jail Superintendent, being in-charge of Jail must sincerely address with promptitude all concerns/safety issues of inmates lodged in the Jail.”
The application has been moved by Ishrat Jahan accused in the Delhi Riots seeking directions for the Jail Superintendent, Mandoli to provide protection/security to her.
Counsel appearing for Ishrat submitted that She is facing harassment in the jail and for which a criminal action may also be initiated under IPC for outraging the modesty of the accused by a lesbian female inmate.
The Court has allowed Ishrat to move to the concerned Jurisdictional Magistrate by filing criminal complaint if she wishes so.
The Court will hear the matter next on January 5, 2021.
