Allahabad High Court orders police protection for Phoolpur gang rape victim, warns against wrong petitions

Prayagraj (ILNS): The Allahabad High Court has directed the SSP of Prayagraj to provide security to the gang rape victim of Phoolpur and her family. At the same time, the court has directed the SSP to monitor the investigation of the case on its own and take strict action against the negligent police officers. The court has said that FIRs should be immediately registered for every criminal incident, especially crimes against women and children.

A bench of Justice Shashi Kant Gupta and Justice Pankaj Bhatia was hearing the petition filed by the rape victim.

Advocate Anil Kumar Mishra, Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal and Permanent Advocate BP Singh Kachhwaha took the side of the petition.

The court has said that the police officers who did not register a complaint of the victim for three months and are now negligent in deliberations, Government must have to take strict action against them.

The victim’s mother had filed an application in the High Court stating that the police had kept the victim in the police station and was not allowing the family members to meet. On this, the court had ordered the victim to appear in the court.

On the orders of the High Court, the police produced the victim before the court. The court had also summoned SSP Prayagraj and SHO Phulpur. SSP had filed an affidavit stating that the allegations made by the victim’s mother are not true.

When the court asked the victim, she also denied any harassment by the police. The court said that it appears that the victim’s mother has filed the wrong affidavit. But since he is poor and uneducated, the court will not take any action against her. The court has warned the victim’s mother not to do so in future.
